A few days ago, I upgraded to WordPress 2.7. My biggest mistake probably was not checking properly (or even not checking at all) if my homepage was displaying properly. I saw no errors in the back-end so I presumed all was okay.

Today I checked my Google Analytics account and saw that I’ve had 0 visitors for the last two days and only 14 three days ago. Now normally I hover around 40 – 50 visitor / day, so I was a little surprised. I decided to go check my homepage and what do I see? A blank page. Nothingness.

I googled the problem and quickly found a blog post describing the same problems. It only mentioned the Super Cache or wp-cache plugins, but I remembered the PHP Speedy WP plugin also caches everything. Turning this plugin off immediately fixed everything.

I’d like to apologize to anyone who might have come across my white blog the last three days. I promise I’ll check my upgrades better next time.

Todays review will be about the new movie Juno. It won an Oscar just recently in the category writing (original screenplay). And I totally agree with it.

The movie tells the story of Juno MacGuff (Elen Page), a 16 year young teenager that lives the teenager life. She goes to high school and, offcourse, is bored. A result of this boredom is having sex with Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera). If it would stop there, there wouldn’t have been a movie, because Juno gets pregnant. At first she considers abortion, but after a rather traumatising experience (“Babies have fingernails!”), she decides to give the baby up for adoption. That’s where Vanessa (Jennifer Garner) and Mark Loring (Jason Bateman) come in. The up-town couple has been trying to conceive for five years, and they decide to adopt. The movie follows Juno through her 9 months, in which she tries to lead a normal life, but rather fails. Who could lead a normal life when you’re pregnant at 16…

When I first read the short description on Apple Trailers, I thought the story sounded pretty lame, I mean, who wants to see a movie about teenage pregnancy. But last week I got bored and decided to watch it anyhow. And I must say, I’m glad I did. As I said in my little intro, I fully agree with Juno’s Oscar for best script. Even though teen pregnancy doesn’t sound that original, the movie in itself is highly originally approached. Juno has an amazing sense of humor (maybe a little too much one-liners?) and situations are sometimes so absurd (Juno’s stepmother vs. echo-technician, anyone?), the movie is just hilarious. I certainly had a few good laughs and more then a decent amount of giggles.

What I additionally like about this movie is that you can watch it with anyone you’d like. You could watch it on your own on a rainy afternoon (like I did), with your girlf/boyfriend, the whole family on a cosy family-evening. Anyone you’d like is maybe a little strong. Watching it with your 16 year old hip cool buddies might not score you cool-points. Better rent Shoot ‘Em Up in that case.

According to me, it’s a must see!
